Mark Lynas: Liar and corporate shill?

Several weeks ago, former activist Mark Lynas publicly apologized for leading the anti-GMO movement in Europe, calling instead for a more science-based discussion. The apology prompted one blogger to ask, ‘In the history of environmentalism has there ever been a bigger mea culpa than that given here by Mark Lynas?’

Yet Jonathan Matthews, founder of the anti-GMO group GMWatch, accuses Lynas of inflating his role in the anti-GMO movement, as well as accepting payoffs from a biotech lobbying group. Certainly, there has probably never been a better staged piece of environmental repentance,” Matthews writes.
