Monsanto protesters toss money off balcony in Congressional offices

BuzzFeed Politics reported that Capitol Police took the cash, believed to be around $500, into evidence. Three people were also “taken away by police.”

It was all part of a protest against Monsanto, Charlie Spiering of the Washington Examiner reported. The agricultural conglomerate, opponents say, is spending millions to buy the votes it needs to make it easier to bring genetically altered foods to market.

The protesters, reportedly from the Organic Consumers Association and Occupy Monsanto, were heard to shout, “Monsanto money,” according to Jared Gilmour of the Huffington Post.
