UC Davis professor, Dr James Murray and PhD candidate, Lydia Garas (student of Dr Elizabeth Maga) discuss transgenic goat milk research that if approved, could help treat diarrheal infections and Irritable Bowel Disease. The researchers note that one of the obstacles that they face is that the public in the developed world “don’t necessarily see the value or a need for these transgenic animal products because they don’t necessarily have problems or diseases that would be treated with them.” But people in the developing world who suffer from malnutrition or infectious diarrhea could benefit greatly from this research.
