Hollywood actress Zoe Lister-Jones to star in anti-GMO movie

Zoe Lister-Jones and Daryl Wein, the couple behind the 2012 comedy Lola Versus, are in production on their follow-up, a political thriller titled Food.

Food is set in the hot-button world of genetically modified organisms. It follows a single mother who goes on a journey to uncover the cause of her son’s mysterious illness. Interwoven are the stories of a CEO grappling with his son’s autism, an organic farmer in danger of losing his farm, and two scientists on the brink of a major discovery. The movie is incorporating angles from the debate, part of which includes whether or not eating GMOs is healthy. But an even bigger fight is over labeling, which in the United States is not legally required but stores such as Whole Foods are beginning to do it anyway.
