It’s no secret that many consumers remain fearful of agricultural biotechnology. More than half of Europe’s citizens, for instance, believe that foods containing GMO ingredients are dangerous, despite the fact that most experts say the technology is safe. In this video, Austrian science journalist Timo Kuentzle explores why consumers in the developed world fear GMOs and how crop biotechnology is helping farmers grow food for hungry people all around the world.

Timo Kuentzle is a journalist with the Vienna, Austria-based media and research platform Addendum. He holds a degree in agriculture from the University of Hohenheim, Germany.
