EU food safety agency defends itself against GMO claims

The European Food Safety Authority has defended itself after claims that it is has links with the biotech industry that bring into questions its ability to act independently.  The accusations emerged recently after a study by the University of Caen claimed to show that rats fed on Monsanto GM sweetcorn, died prematurely.  The EU food agency stated that the study provided insufficient evidence and called for more in depth analysis to be carried out.
