Northern Uganda farmers are seeking to petition Parliament over the bill promoting the use of Genetically Modified Organisms.
This was disclosed during the recent Northern Uganda Regional Policy dialogue held in Gulu. The dialogue was organized by the Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmers’ Forum Uganda (ESAFF).
Farmers say the Members of Parliament (MPs) did not consult them before the bill was tabled in Parliament.

The Advocacy officer ESAFF Uganda, George Assimwe in a press statement said: “The farmers have resolved to petition the Speaker of Parliament asking parliament to consult them rather than passing bills which will not benefit them.”
