Field tests and other evaluations help us determine how Golden Rice will grow in the field and if it will have any environmental impacts different from other rice varieties. Many years of work in greenhouses and screenhouses have shown that Golden Rice grows the same as other rice. This has been confirmed by small confined field tests recently carried out by IRRI and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice).
