Honey and GMOs: Greens celebrate EU decision to keep GM pollen label

The European Parliament’s environment committee recently voted on a proposal to revise the EU rules on honey. A majority of the members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted to reject a proposal to change EU legislation that would have ended mandatory labeling of GM pollen in honey. Bart Staes, Green food and environment spokesperson, says that “honey containing GM pollen should be labeled as such, both to provide certainty for consumers and to support European beekeepers that care about quality and want to keep their honey free from GMO” pollination.
