Since the 2016 presidential election, tensions in the political arena have spilled into the science world. Scientists have been notably vocal, speaking out in response to concerns that the Trump administration may cut funding for various science programs. There is also a brewing debate over GMO labeling, as the new Administration does not appear to consider this a priority.

In this interview dietitian Leah McGrath speaks with University of Florida agricultural scientist Kevin Folta about science advocacy on these highly politicized times, GMO technologies and the difference between real science and fear mongering promoted by popular food ‘shockumentaries’.
