Vitamin enhanced GM ‘Golden Orange’ grows faster, provides antioxidant protection

A team of researchers in Spain have engineered a “golden orange” that grows more quickly than conventional oranges and contains as much as 36 times the amount of β-carotene in the pulp, a precursor of vitamin A. Tests showed the antioxidant effect is not only maintained, it is 20 percent higher than in conventional oranges. David Osorio at Skeptic Ink walks us through the cutting edge research.
