GLP radio interview: Girl Scouts refuse to bow to activist pressure to go non-GMO

cover gs

It’s the time for annual Girl Scout cookie drive, and the fundraising effort is caught up in the GMO controversy.

Jon Entine, executive director of the Genetic Literacy Project, was interviewed by Mike Adams on Agri-Talk Radio about the Girl Scouts’ unwillingness to bow to pressure from anti-GMO activists who are demanding they remove all ingredients derived from genetically modified crops. Much of the United States sugar supply is derived from genetically modified sugar beets. As Entine wrote in an recent GLP article, there is no chemical difference between sugar made from GM sugar beets versus organic or other conventional sugar. Most of the sugar beets grown in the United States are engineered to resist the herbicide glyphosate. There is also no traceable DNA.

The Girl Scouts have held on refusing to bend to emotion and instead standing for the science, but the pressure continues.
