Plea for allowing research trial on developing genetic crops

Government should allow scientists to conduct research trials for developing genetically modified crops and ensure technology is taken to the farmers, a top official said today. “Instead of doing more research activities for developing genetically modified crops, we have gone one step backward that even to do a research trial, we need to obtain a no-objection certificate from State Governments”, National Institute of Nutrition Director Dr B Sesikeran said.
