Monsanto files brief in Bowman v. Monsanto

Monsanto Co. filed a brief late Wednesday with the U.S. Supreme Court, which is slated to hear a case between the Creve Coeur-based seed giant and an Indiana farmer over patent rights.

The case, Bowman v. Monsanto, was given the green light by the court in October, and oral arguments will begin in mid-February. The court will decide whether the farmer, Vernon H. Bowman, violated Monsanto’s patent on soybean seeds by replanting them without approval.
