Peru remains almost alone globally, again affirming GMO crop rejection until 2035

[Peru’s] Plenary Session of Congress rejected the request […] to end the moratorium on GMOs and allow their cultivation.

According to the current regulatory framework, the use of living modified organisms (LMOs) is prohibited until December 31, 2035.

[Minister of Agrarian Development Angel] Manero, in support of the project, said that “we already eat GMOs” and that they only [requested] the cultivation of genetically modified cotton and corn: for the textile and clothing industry and for feeding chickens and pigs, respectively.
