Highly toxic, first-generation chemicals marketed in the sixties and early seventies – such as endrin, lindane, and hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCH) – were systematically banned and purged from the domestic market decades ago, leaving exceptions like restricted DDT use strictly confined to public health vector control.
