Africa: Are Nigerians afraid of GMOs?

Nigerians are still apprehensive of Genetically Modified foods despite the fact that they are safe for consumption, the National Agricultural Seeds Council of Nigeria (NASC N) has said. NASCN’s acting Director General, Anthony Olatokun, who said this in Abuja yesterday at the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB), said many Nigerians are still asking whether GM foods are safe for consumption or not. According to him, people have been left to form opinion about the genetically modified crops and it is now difficult to change their opinion.
