Biofortified blogger Layla Katiraee takes on a Farm Wars story about how GMOs allegedly cause E.coli poisoning. Katiraee counters points made in the story – for example: “It is possible that a mutated form of e-coli resulting from the cloning process used in creating GMOs could get into the gut of a person or animal that eats a transgenic plant.” – with basic scientific facts about E.coli.
She concludes that there is nothing in the story about the risks and dangers of E.coli’s use in genetic engineering that is accurate. In an additional comment in honor of International Women’s Day, Katiraee urges women and mothers not to ignore scientific facts and evidence-based arguments. “Think of the children!”
