Anti-GM activists in Europe are up in arms over the possible introduction of GM animals to the food markets by European food authorities. Citing controversy over the genetically altered salmon in the United States, activists claim that these genetically modified animals are dangerous and that the European Commission is “failing to protect consumers, farmers, fisherman and food processors – by skipping a comprehensive assessment of the broader impacts of these GM products – it is rushing to introduce something which, quite simply, nobody bar the biotech industry wants. “
