Farmers need to know the basic biotech crop science to educate consumers about what they do.
Jenny Rees, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension educator in Clay County and plant pathologist, said Thursday at the Nebraska Women in Agriculture Conference in Kearney, “There’s a lot of misinformation about how we produce our food.”
Rees helped some of the 300-plus people attending the conference prepare to answer consumers’ questions about GMO (genetically modified organism) crops. One step is to better understand people’s attitudes toward biotechnology.
