As the Trump administration withdraws support for biotechnology innovation pushed by former president Biden, Europe is poised to seize the initiative

The U.S. administration of President Donald Trump has revoked Executive Order 14081, “Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy,” originally issued on September 12, 2022. This decision will have far-reaching consequences for the U.S. biotech industry.

The order was published and executed to advance engineering biotechnology and biomanufacturing towards innovative solutions in health, climate change, energy, food security, agriculture, supply chain resilience, and national and economic security.
