The Promise of GMOs: Removing cancer causing mycotoxins from our food supply

As part of Biology Fortified’s serious The Promise of GMO‘s, geneticist Anastasia Bodnar, the co-founder of the website, asks: Have GMOs lived up to their promises?

We often hear: “Biotech is helping to feed the world by: Producing foods free of … toxins such as mycotoxin.”

Mycotoxins are produced by some fungi that infect plants, and when consumed they can cause a variety of health problems in humans and other animals. The plants can get infected in the field, and the fungi can multiply if storage conditions are not quite right.

Verdict: Promise met.
