The verdict I predicted has landed—agri-giant Monsanto has been found guilty of ecocide, among other charges, after over a year of deliberations in a fake trial. The theatrics began in December of 2015, when a press conference announced the intentions of the “International Monsanto Tribunal” to put the company on trial for “crimes against nature and humanity.”

“Most of the tribunal leaders have one thing in common: they are part of organic movement special interests, and they all demonize creators of Genetically Modified Organisms.”

Meanwhile, the injustices of anti-GMO sentiment continue. Farmers in Uganda suffer the devastation of banana bacterial wilt, which threatens food security in the area while an existing GMO solution languishes in regulatory purgatory. Irrational fears hinder solutions that would allow those with life-threatening allergies to breathe easy and enjoy foods that are otherwise off limits. Drought-tolerant GMO maize is literally being burned while people in Tanzania go hungry. And smaller players in the genetic engineering game are unable to compete with the big guys due to burdensome ideological regulations that stifle innovation.
